Presentation of prEUgovor Alarm Report on the Progress of Serbia in Cluster 1

The prEUgovor coalition presents its latest Alarm – report on Serbia's progress in implementation of policies in the areas covered by Cluster 1 (Fundamentals), with the focus on political criteria and chapters 23 (Judiciary & Fundamental Rights) and 24 (Justice, Freedom & Security) of the EU accession negotiations. The Report covers the period from May to October 2024. The event will take place on Wednesday, 4 December 2024, at 11 AM, at Europe House (Zmaj Jovina 8, Belgrade).

Representatives of the prEUgovor coalition will present the main findings of the Alarm Report with a focus on the long-awaited changes to the criminal legislation, the problematic functioning of democratic institutions, the position of activists and civil society, the scope of the new anti-corruption strategy and police reform.

They will also address the following questions: How realistic are the announcements by the Government of Serbia that they will meet the criteria for membership in the European Union by 2026? What can we expect from the Reform Agenda of Serbia for priorities in Cluster 1? What is written and what is missing in the latest European Commission report on Serbia?

About prEUgovor

Coalition prEUgovor is a network of civil society organisations formed in order to monitor the implementation of policies relating to the accession negotiations between Serbia and the EU, with an emphasis on Chapters 23 and 24 of the Acquis. In doing so, the coalition aims to use the EU integration process to help accomplish substantial progress in the further democratisation of the Serbian society.

Members of the coalition are: ASTRA - Anti-Trafficking Action, Autonomous Women's Centre (AWC), Belgrade Centre for Security Policy (BCSP), Center for Investigative Journalism in Serbia (CINS), Centre for Applied European Studies (CPES), Group 484 and Transparency Serbia (TS).

Key product of the Coalition is its semi-annual independent shadow report on Cluster 1 reforms in Serbia.
